Clockwise starting with large image: Sir Donald Sinden and Libby hamming it up in St Clement Church, Old Romney; Patrick Reyntiens and Libby taking time off from filming; a Brangwyn stencil design for the exterior of Siegfried Bing’s Galerie l’Art Nouveau, Paris, 1899; Libby in her producer’s chair.
Since gaining my PhD in 2002 I have established myself as a lecturer (being admitted into the NADFAS fold in 2001), a researcher and a writer (two of the books with which I have been involved have been nominated for the William B Berger Prize for Art History). In 2006 I curated the exhibition Frank Brangwyn 1867-1956 (Leeds, Bruges and Swansea) and in 2010 co-curated the most comprehensive exhibition of Brangwyn’s work (Tokyo, National Museum of Western Art) which won an award for best researched exhibition by the Western Arts Foundation, Japan. I have also scripted and co-edited a number of art films.
Apart from the above I am also compiling the Catalogue Raisonné of Brangwyn’s work – both fine and decorative art – estimated to be in excess of 12,000 items! I prepare authentication reports on his art for auction houses and individuals (supplying the title, date, full catalogue entry and my catalogue number) – charges obtainable on request.
