THE WORLD ACCORDING TO...TIGGER
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO...TIGGER
What I do:
Since gaining my PhD in 2002 I have established myself as a lecturer (being admitted into the NADFAS fold in 2001), a researcher and a writer (two of the books with which I have been involved have been nominated for the William B Berger Prize for Art History). I have also acted as consultant for and scripted an art film, and am currently the producer for a DVD about stained glass. In 2006 I curated the most comprehensive exhibition ever held of Frank Brangwyn’s work (Leeds, Bruges and Swansea).
I am prepared to produce specific lectures to order anywhere in the world, but to view those currently available see GOURMET ART, FRANK BRANGWYN and REYNTIENS.
Apart from my work as a freelance curator, writer, researcher, lecturer and producer I am also compiling the Catalogue Raisonné of Brangwyn’s work in all media and write authentication reports on his art for both auction houses and individuals (supplying the title, date, full catalogue entry and my catalogue number) – charges obtainable on request.
How I got here:
Aeons ago I went to Sheffield University to study Architecture and ended up with a degree in English. I then took a Secretarial course and worked in an Architect’s office in London before marrying and moving to Saudi Arabia where I became PA to a Government Minister. This was followed by a stint in Iraq where, oddly enough, it was more difficult to gain employment so I filled my days studying an Interior Design correspondence course and swimming. We escaped (literally) when the first war with Iran started in 1980 and moved to Hong Kong for eighteen months, leaving some 16 years later. During this time my two sons were born and I worked as a freelance graphic artist and got caught up in the world of triathlons. Returning to the UK I studied Victorian Art and Architecture at Royal Holloway which was a hop and a skip down the road from where we lived, and followed this up with a PhD.
Who I am:
A self deprecatory art historian with a sense of humour and a sense of fun who enjoys thinking laterally.
However, if I were writing a CV it would probably have a profile something like this: A hard working, motivated and energetic organiser and administrator with an analytical mind, capable of working within a group but preferring to work independently, and experienced in planning and working to deadlines. Well travelled, with knowledge of art and architecture world-wide; detailed knowledge of Victorian art, design and architecture; combined with practical design ability.
What I enjoy:
Reading, writing, research, drawing, travelling, listening to jazz, photography, cooking, good food, fine and decorative art, architecture, working off excess energy, being alone, the wind in my hair, the sound of the sea.
